Shhwhaaat! I need to update this thing more often. Even if it involves making up words.

Hum hum hum, I was in Williamsburg this weekend and, as expected, it was a shit show. Hung out with lots of fun kids and a few creepers, and it was pretty surreal. In a good way! I was having too much fun to be sad/nostalgic.

Soooo what else? Anything random? Always. I read on the New York Times that there's a group called "Dating a Banker Anonymous" where ladies dress up and meet for drinks/brunch to whine about their men. Nobody ever did that before.

On a similar note, my ex is blocking me on AIM. Didn't people stop doing that in 8th grade?

Happy Birthday Robyn!

So I didn't mean to be all Debbie Downer. I'm in a bit of a better mood now. Yay!
Obama's speech, if you got hit in the head with a rock and were the only one to miss it, was beautiful, stirring, wonderful, etc. Everyone was crying and screaming and super happy, and I wish I could have been that enthusiastic too. It's thrilling that he's president, but I feel like so many people are completely enamored with him with no real idea why. It's like they think he's Jesus and Santa wrapped up in one.

Obviously his diversity and patience let basically everyone relate to him, but one of my favorite aspects of Obama is how he has seemed thus far to deflect even the most seductive praises. People cheer and he just grins dismissively, or makes them cry with a speech. But he is never affected by this hysteria, at least on the surface. If it's a ruse, he's damn good at it.

He didn't even get excited during his entrance, being the only one besides Bush not to grin as he walked through the Capitol. It's like he sees a clear light in the future, and the present popularity and crowds are just murk to wade through.

I don't know. Just please do well. And don't let pride anywhere near you.

randomness

-This guy I work with went to a party last night, for the "political Perez Hilton," in a yoga studio, with a band by the mirrors (weirdest acoustics ever I'd think), and, apparently, techno music. Set to whale noises.

Wish I could speak whale.

-Someone who works with Heather gave the pres-elect an extra B and turned him into Obamba.
Nanananana Obamba! (sung to the tune of "La Bamba" um duh.)

-I thought I'd be annoyed at how crazy the metro is getting. Instead it just feels really cool that everyone is getting so excited about this.

So this weekend was freaking amazing. Friday Heather, Katie, and I went to this Indian restaurant with the worst service EVER. They seriously served everyone else in the restaurant before us, only gave us food when Heather asked to see the manager, and gave us the wrong check! (we should have kept it haha.. it was way cheaper than the real one) Freaking amazing chicken tikka masala, even though I'm never eating there again. Not like there aren't any other Indian restaurants in DC.

Then we all saw Revolutionary Road and I cried at the same freaking part. Yay for Kate Winslet winning the Golden Globe!!!!!!! Ahhh!!!!! That movie is so beautiful there was no way anyone else could have won.

Saturday we went around Adams Morgan with Katie and a bunch of girls we didn't know. The first bar was Bourbon and it was so unbelievably crowded we could barely get to the bar. The bartender was amazing- my drinks were 95% bourbon. I guess he got distracted when he was telling some random yelling man to fuck off.

We went to Tom Tom next, drank beer and talked to some awesome twin brothers. Then magically it was 3 am and we were standing on a corner eating foodgasmic pizza and making friends with Tod the random sketch face. Amazing.

I'm so tired I don't know why I'm awake anymore. Bye!

A bunch of things that have been fabulous recently:

-Christmas was so great! My mom and I sang in the choir on Christmas Eve and it was so cool and pretty, and then the whole family was at our house on Christmas, and everyone was happy! AND I GOT A PANDA.

His name is Rutherford.

-Josh visited and we had so much freaking fun!!!! Saturday we saw Revolutionary Road in Georgetown, and it was incredible. Even though it was completely depressing I want to see it again. Breathtaking. Kate Winslet is going to win an Oscar.

Then Sunday we wandered around the Natural and American History Museums, had dinner with Josh's cute friend Kelsey and the one and only Tim Kaufmann, and saw Twelfth Night at the Shakespeare Theatre! Ahhhh that was so good too. Rose petals fell out of the ceiling whenever a character overindulged, either on grief or drink or lust (the fun one!) Haha, it was so adorable. And our seats were awesome!

Today Josh and I wandered around Panera and Borders before he left :( Tomorrow I train for my new job at the theatre, even though I told everyone I had it tonight. Epic fail. Haha, I'm hoping it's not too mind-numbing. I'll keep you updated regardless!

Peace out bitches!
